Living most of my life on the Connecticut Shoreline has both inspired my life and its work. Being within walking distance to the shore in both Connecticut and Rhode Island, has afforded me many days of boating, fishing, beaching, along with painting the beauty of my home.
I began painting in the “open air” after spending too much time studio bound as a textile designer in New York City. I worked as such while earning my BFA and MFA from The School of Visual Arts, NYC.
Along with my commercial work I have also taught art in private and public schools for over 17 years, with my first degree being a BS in Art Education, with a Professional Educator Certification from Southern CT State University. Additional study at The Art Students League, NYC and Lyme Academy provided refinement of my classical practices.
Paintings and Etchings have been exhibited and collected at various venues in NY, CT, RI and while proprietor and solo artist of The Little Gallery, Chester, CT. Exhibition memberships include: Lyme Art Association, Newport Art Museum, Mystic Museum of Art, Madison Art Society, New York Art Director’s Club and the John Slade Ely House. Published illustrations appeared in Home Textiles Today, The Language of Drawing and Portfolio 11.
Currently I work out of my circa 1740 post and beam carriage house studio located beside the Falls River in CT. While I primarily work as a landscape/marine painter on location I also create still life paintings from collected antiques or do larger studio versions of my plein air studies in this inspirational space.
