Most Popular Award from Madison Art Society’s 44th Annual Member Show

Marlene Sicuranza was awarded the Most Popular Award from among 83 entries at the Madison Art Society’s 44th Annual Member Show.  The award is the result of votes taken by member and friends who attended the show’s reception on Saturday, February 9, 2019.  The title of her entry is “Fury, Jesse’s Rescue.”  The dog has an interesting story.  Fury was adopted in 2016 by the boyfriend of the artist’s granddaughter.  The eight year old dog was left at the Dakin Humane Society in Springfield, Massachusetts. His owner had died.   The dog is blind and deaf.  The new owner tried to save Fury’s eyesight with surgery that was unfortunately unsuccessful.  He is now a happy dog and loves his owner very much.  Marlene gave the young man this beautiful watercolor painting for Christmas which spills over with the dog’s enthusiasm for life.

We thank the owner’s of Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale Restaurant for their generous donation for the award.  The Madison Art Society show is being held at the Henry Carter Hull Library in Clinton Connecticut and continues through noon on Wednesday, February 28, 2019.  The display is open to view by the public during library hours.  A critique of selected artwork was held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019.
