New Year Newsletter 2022 

The MAS board of directors hopes you had a happy holiday season and we wish you a Healthy New Year!  Looking back over 2021, MAS took unprecedented measures to successfully keep our members connected through various virtual and in person art exhibitions, demos and lectures.  Now, we are ready to welcome a new year, setting our sights on a more healthy  and  creative 2022!   On our part, the MAS board of directors will continue to work to educate, inspire and encourage our members and the community.   We greatly appreciate your continued support of the Madison Art Society  and challenge you make a New Year’s resolution to renew you MAS membership and check the volunteer boxes on the membership form  at madisonartsocietyct.org !

Membership dues are due January 31st, 2022.  Do not delay- please pay on our website at madisonartsocietyct.org, just $25.   Your dues provide you access to art exhibition opportunities with cash prizes, art receptions, demos, critiques, lectures, your website linked to the MAS website, plein air and indoor painting programs, and so much more.  On the dues form, please check off areas in which you can donate your time and talents to MAS. 

Winter Studio, for those artists who have signed up- Winter Studio will be starting on 31 JANUARY 2022  instead of 10 January 2022 due to the uptick in the number of Covid cases   .We will meet on the following dates:  2/7, 2/14, 2/28, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21 and 3/28 (NO meeting on 2/21 – Presidents Day). From 9am-3pm,   a group of artist meet to paint  from still life set-ups and critique our works.  We are always in need of substitutes, so please contact Cheryl Sorensen  at lymeladybug@gmail.com or Elena Gerard at gerard.elena@gmail.com to get on the sub list.

January 21, 10am, Artist Paul Loescher-  This watercolor painting demonstration will be sure to inspire you and teach you some new  techniques  by  award-winning artist, Paul Loescher.  RSVP to marianne@RDTTECH.com

February 11, 10am, Bob Potter- Power and Remembrance: Reclaiming Black Lives Through Art

MAS 47th Annual Member Exhibition and Sale, February-March, 2022, at The Scranton Library

Online submissions February 1st-11th

Member Show:   Monday Feb 14th – Friday March 18th                    

Receiving/Hanging:   Saturday, Feb 12th. 9:30-3:30                            

Reception:               Thursday, March 3rd.  5:30-7:30                           

Take Down:              Saturday, March 19th. 9:30-1:00    

The  prospectus for the 47th Annual Member Show can be found on the MAS website at madisonartsocietyct.org.  All necessary show details are provided for you online.   Please note that the online submissions will begin on February 1st and in person receiving is Saturday February 12th from 9:30-3:30pm.   When you submit your works through the online submission, MAS will obtain your information for entry tags from your online submissions, so there is no need to fill out a physical entry label.  The show will be hybrid- both virtual and in person. 

MAS 48th Annual Juried Exhibition and Sale, May 2-June 3rd, 2022, at the Scranton Library.  More details coming.
