New Year Newsletter  2023

 

The MAS board of directors hopes you had a happy holiday season, and we wish you a Healthy New Year!  Looking back over 2022, MAS took unprecedented measures to successfully keep our members connected through various virtual and in person art exhibitions, demonstrations and lectures.  Now, we are ready to welcome a new year, setting our sights on a more creative 2023!   On our part, the MAS board of directors will continue to work to educate, inspire and encourage our members and the community.   We greatly appreciate your continued support of the Madison Art Society and challenge you make a New Year’s resolution to renew your MAS membership and check the volunteer boxes on the membership form at madisonartsocietyct.org. Also remember to share with us your social media accounts so that we can tag you in exhibition shows.  Several members sold their works during the December show through social media!

 

Membership dues are due January 31st, 2023.  Do not delay- please pay on our website at madisonartsocietyct.org, just $30.   Click here to pay now.   Your dues provide you access to art exhibition opportunities with cash prizes, art receptions, demos, critiques, lectures, your website linked to the MAS website, plein air and indoor painting programs, and so much more.  Click here to visit our Volunteer Form, and check off areas in which you can donate your time and talents to MAS.

 

Winter Studio, for those artists who have signed up- Winter Studio will be starting on JANUARY 9, 2023  

We will meet on the following dates:  1/9, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/27, 3/6 and 3/13 (NO meeting on 1/16 and 2/20 – Martin Luther King Day & Presidents Day). From 9am-3pm, a group of artists meet to paint from still life set-ups and critique our works.  We are always in need of substitutes, so please contact Cheryl Sorensen  at lymeladybug@gmail.com or Elena Gerard at gerard.elena@gmail.com to get on the sub list.

MAS 48th Annual Member Exhibition and Sale, February-March, 2023 at The Scranton Library

Online submissions:   February 4th-10th 6pm

Member Show:           Monday Feb 13th – Friday March 17th                   

Receiving/Hanging:    Saturday, Feb 11th. 9:30-Noon – Hanging 1-3                           

Reception:                  Thursday, March 2nd,  5:30-7:30pm                         

Take Down:                 Saturday, March 18th,9:30-Noon    

The prospectus for the 48th Annual Member Show can be found on the MAS website at madisonartsocietyct.org.  Click here for the prospectus.   All necessary show details are provided for you online.   Please note that the online submissions will begin on February 4th and in person receiving is Saturday February 11th from 9:30-Noon.   When you submit your works through the online submission, MAS will obtain your information for entry tags from your online submissions, so there is no need to fill out a physical entry label.  The show will be hybrid- both virtual and in person.

May through September – Plein Air Paint Outs Wednesdays, 9am – Noon

August 2023 – Madison Historical Society Antique Show and Arts Festival
