NOTES FROM THE JUROR
I based my selection first on originality of the piece and then the execution of the idea.
First Place caught my attention immediately because of the strength of the colors and values, the more I studied the painting the more I loved and found beautiful passages from the darting yellow grasses to the distant reeds on the left of the image. The whimsical notationations left much for the viewers imagination to explore.
Second Place was delicately and freshly executed. I found this piece to be sensitive to the medium and to the subject matter. Jeanette ‘s selection of what to leave out made this a very desirable piece in it’s abstraction.
Third Place I just love the feeling in this piece, the story telling aspect and near to my heart, the “light” as it danced around the painting. This painting exudes love of subject and light. The colors were well balanced and showed much understanding of where to place them.
